DEMING – Luna County commissioners are scheduled to consider a lengthy agenda Thursday that includes appointments, infrastructure projects, funding resolutions, and partnership agreements with numerous local organizations during their regular meeting.
Among the presentations, commissioners will consider the appointment of a new Luna County Code Enforcement Officer, receive the Luna County Detention Center’s quarterly restrictive housing report, hear an update on county projects, discuss collaboration with local agricultural businesses, and receive an update on the CPOE Diversion Berm Project.
The consent agenda includes proposed agreements with a number of community organizations, including Deming Arts Council, Deming Cesar Chavez Charter High School, Deming-Luna County Humane Society, Foundation of Youth, La Casa Healing House, Luna County Commission on Aging, Luna County Historical Society, Luna Star Fine Arts, Luna County MainStreet Program, New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension, Play Sharity Foundation, Project Comunidad, Luna County Silver Linings, The Well, Southwestern New Mexico State Fair Association, and Vistas, along with other routine county business.
Commissioners are also expected to consider an ordinance approving a Local Economic Development Project for Wesley Brothers Desert Studios. Additional action items include resolutions for Local Government Road Fund projects, Water Trust Board funding assistance, appointments to the Commission of Freeholders, and a resolution requesting coordination status with the U.S. Forest Service regarding the Gila National Forest Land Management Plan revision.
The Luna County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, July 16, with the regular meeting beginning at 2 p.m. at the Luna County Commission Chambers in Deming. A public input work session is scheduled for Aug. 6 at 1:30 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 2 p.m.
