DEMING – Western New Mexico University recently wrapped up its final Sin Fronteras Creative Writing Project for Undergraduate Students.<\/p>\n
The program, organized by Associate Professor of English Composition Heather Frankland, brought together 13 students for workshops focused on storytelling, poetry, literature, and the many meanings of borders.<\/p>\n
The project featured professional guest writers and teachers, including JJ Amaworo Wilson, Fabienne Josaphat, Miguel De La Cruz, Melanie Sweeney, and Frankland.<\/p>\n
Students explored international and regional literature while creating new prose and poetry. Organizers said the workshops also helped students experience writing as part of a supportive creative community.<\/p>\n
Student Laisha Vargas said the program strengthened her poetry and helped her see literature in new ways.<\/p>\n
Frankland said this was the third and final year of Sin Fronteras, adding that the project gave students a unique opportunity to grow as writers and connect with others.<\/p>\n
