DEMING – A late-night fire damaged a residence in the 1100 block of East Elm Street on Tuesday, June 9.<\/p>\n
According to the Deming Police Department, officers and the Deming Fire Department responded to the reported structure fire at approximately 11:20 p.m. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a bathroom inside the home.<\/p>\n
The residents were not at home when the fire occurred, and no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
However, a small dog and four puppies were found deceased inside the residence.<\/p>\n
Deming Police Chief Sergio Lara said the case has been turned over to the New Mexico State Fire Marshal’s Office for further investigation.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
