Southwest Pediatrics and Southwest Therapeutics to Host Community Open House and Health Fair July 17

DEMING – Families from Deming and surrounding communities are invited to attend a free community Open House and Health Fair on Friday, July 17, 10am – 2pm as Southwest Pediatrics & Family Care and Southwest Therapeutics open their doors to showcase expanded healthcare services while offering sports physicals, school physicals, educational resources, family activities, and opportunities to connect with healthcare providers from across the region.

The event will feature collaborative partners and vendors from Deming, Las Cruces, Albuquerque, and El Paso, making it one of the largest community health outreach events hosted by the clinic. Organizers say participating vendors will provide information about local services, with many also offering refreshments and raffle prizes throughout the day.

According to Florence Roque of Southwest Pediatrics & Family Care, the Open House is designed to introduce residents of Luna County and neighboring communities to the clinic’s expanded healthcare services.

Among the new and enhanced services being highlighted are the clinic’s Fast Track program, an IV Hydration Program, expanded clinic hours, and the behavioral health services available through Southwest Therapeutics. Members of the Southwest Therapeutics leadership and social work team will also be available to answer questions and explain the resources they provide to patients and families.

Outside the clinic, visitors will find numerous activities for children and families, including water attractions, vendor booths, music provided by Bravo Mic Communications’ John Krehbiel, and several specialized mobile medical units.

Featured mobile units scheduled to participate include:

  • El Paso Children’s Multispecialty Clinic
  • Pediatric Orthopedics mobile unit from Las Cruces
  • Deming Fire Department

Inside the clinic, healthcare professionals will provide on-site registration along with comprehensive sports and school physicals to help families prepare for the upcoming school year. Medical providers, including Marina and the clinic’s healthcare staff, will be available throughout the event to meet with patients and answer questions.

One of the featured services during the Open House will be electrocardiogram (EKG) testing aboard the El Paso Children’s Multispecialty Clinic mobile unit. EKGs will be performed by appointment using advanced diagnostic equipment. A pediatric cardiologist will review the results the following day, with follow-up consultations available at Southwest Pediatrics & Family Care by appointment the following week.

Organizers say the event is intended not only to provide healthcare services, but also to strengthen community partnerships by bringing together medical providers, emergency responders, behavioral health professionals, and local organizations in one location.

The clinic has already reached its planned capacity for participating vendors, reflecting strong community interest and support for the event.

The Open House is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 10am – 2pm at Southwest Pediatrics & Family Care and Southwest Therapeutics in Deming. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend, meet healthcare providers, learn about available services, enjoy family-friendly activities, and prepare for the upcoming school year.

Additional information, including event hours and appointment availability for EKGs, may be obtained by contacting Southwest Pediatrics & Family Care.
