DEMING – A five-hour traffic-safety operation along Pine Street resulted in 51 citations, one vehicle being towed and one warrant arrest, according to Deming Police Chief Sergio Lara.
The operation was conducted August 7 from 6:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. by the department’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Bike Patrol. Bike patrol officers worked alongside marked patrol units to identify violations and make coordinated traffic stops.
Police focused enforcement on speeding, red-light violations, illegal parking, distracted driving and other unsafe behavior that can put motorists, pedestrians and cyclists at risk.
Chief Lara recognized Officers Alondra Ranget, Jorge Madrid, Mariano Tapia, Brian Garcia and Aidan Marin for their work during the operation, citing their professionalism, teamwork and commitment to public safety.
“Traffic safety is a shared responsibility,” Lara said. “I commend these officers for their initiative and dedication to protecting our community. Their work sends a clear message that dangerous driving behavior will be addressed, while helping make our streets safer for everyone.”
The department said similar traffic-enforcement operations are planned at locations throughout Deming in the near future. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, obey traffic-control devices, avoid distractions and remain alert for pedestrians, bicyclists and other roadway users.
