Crack Seal Work Scheduled on Several Deming Streets

DEMING — The City of Deming will begin crack seal work on multiple residential streets starting April 14, with crews expected to work daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for approximately 17 days.

City officials say the maintenance work will take place on Lovington Street, Tularosa Street, South Mesilla Street, Carlsbad Street, Roswell Street, Alamogordo Street, Las Cruces Street, South Socorro Street and South 9th Street.

Residents are being asked to watch for barricades and workers in the area and to follow posted signs or instructions from flaggers. Officials also advise drivers not to park vehicles on affected streets during work hours and to move vehicles into driveways or onto nearby side streets.

The city warns motorists and pedestrians not to drive or walk on freshly applied crack seal material, which is extremely sticky and can adhere to tires and shoes. The material typically cures within about 10 minutes after application.

Officials say residents may be re-notified if weather conditions or equipment issues delay the project. For more information, residents can contact the City of Deming Community Development Department at 575-546-8848.
