DEMING – The Deming City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m. at 1275 East Pine Street in Deming.
The meeting will include public comment sign-up from 4:30 to 5 p.m., followed by public comment from 5 to 5:30 p.m. The regular meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with prayer, call to order, the Pledge of Allegiance and attendance roll call.
Agenda items include approval of minutes from the April 21 regular City Council meeting and the April 23 Tourism Development Commission meeting.
Councilors will also consider a resolution approving an application for a time extension on an agreement between the City of Deming and the New Mexico Department of Transportation for cooperative agreement number HW2L100616.
Other items on the agenda include a Memorial Day proclamation, a resolution adopting the 2026-2031 Deming Community Forest Management Plan, and a recommendation for award for RFP 26-05 for external auditor services.
The agenda also includes the manager’s report and a closed session to discuss limited personnel matters regarding appointed employee evaluations and contract negotiations. Any motions following the closed session would be handled in open session.
The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for June 16 at 5:30 p.m.
The city has also scheduled a Strategic Budget Implementation Workshop for Thursday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1091 Doniphan Park Circle in El Paso, Texas. A team-building session is also listed that evening at 5:30 p.m. in El Paso.
