DEMING – The Luna County Board of County Commissioners will meet Thursday afternoon for its regular monthly meeting, with several county business items scheduled for discussion and possible action.
The meeting is set for Thursday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at the Luna County Courthouse.
Commissioners are scheduled to recognize Raul Moreno-Felix of the Detention Department for 10 years of service and Elizabeth Maynes of the Treasurer’s Office for 20 years of service. The board will also recognize the retirement of Anna Barraza from Parents as Teachers, after service from 2001 to 2026.
The commission is also expected to consider a consent agenda that includes accounts payable totaling $4,959,443.46, payroll totaling $2,251,966.21, budget increases, budget transfers and disposition of personal property.
Under new business, commissioners are scheduled to consider a resolution adopting the county’s Fiscal Year 2028 through 2032 Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan. They will also consider a resolution authorizing the Budget and Procurement Director to make final necessary intra-departmental line-item transfers, along with certification of fixed assets and disposition of personal property.
Also on the agenda is consideration of a policy for the use of walk-through metal detectors and handheld scanners.
Commissioners are also scheduled to certify canvass results for the 2026 election and hear an indigent claims report totaling $84,323.89.
Reports are also expected from elected officials, the county manager and community support organizations.
Before the regular meeting begins, the county will hold a work session from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the courthouse. The work session gives residents an opportunity to address commissioners on county-related issues and agenda items before the board begins regular business.
Residents who wish to speak are encouraged to attend the work session, sign in with the Clerk’s Office and take part in the local government process.
