LOVINGTON, N.M. \u2013 A 35-year-old man is facing a felony charge after New Mexico State Police say he sent multiple threatening videos to a Lea County District Court judge.<\/p>\n
The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was requested on July 9 to investigate violent threats made against a Lea County District Court judge.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, Sebastian Rios-Sierra allegedly sent multiple threatening videos to the judge’s work email. State Police said Rios-Sierra had previously been sentenced by the judge in an unrelated criminal case.<\/p>\n
On July 10, New Mexico State Police agents obtained an arrest warrant charging Rios-Sierra with one count of Threatening a Judge, a fourth-degree felony.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined Rios-Sierra was in Pecos, Texas. Working in coordination with the Pecos Police Department, officers located and arrested him on the New Mexico warrant. He is currently awaiting extradition to New Mexico.<\/p>\n
New Mexico State Police thanked the Pecos Police Department for its assistance in safely apprehending Rios-Sierra.<\/p>\n
State Police said threats of violence against judges, public officials, law enforcement officers, or any member of the public are taken seriously and will be thoroughly investigated.<\/p>\n
