{"id":1238,"date":"2026-07-24T18:18:29","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T18:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demingnews.com\/?p=1238"},"modified":"2026-07-24T18:18:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T18:18:29","slug":"roadwork-chip-seal-operations-planned-in-luna-county-through-aug-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demingnews.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/24\/roadwork-chip-seal-operations-planned-in-luna-county-through-aug-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Roadwork, Chip Seal Operations Planned in Luna County Through Aug. 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DEMING \u2014 Drivers in Deming, Columbus and throughout Luna County should expect construction activity, temporary lane closures and reduced speeds during the week of July 26 through Aug. 2.<\/p>\n<p>The New Mexico Department of Transportation reminds motorists to slow down in work zones, obey all traffic control devices and watch for heavy equipment and workers. Conditions may change without notice, and double fines for speeding in work zones may be in effect.<\/p>\n<p>At NM 11 and El Paso Avenue near the Columbus Port of Entry, paving has been completed, but contractor crews will remain on site for guardrail installation. Lane closures and flagging operations may be used as needed. Work is scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the project expected to continue through fall 2026.<\/p>\n<p>NMDOT crews will also conduct chip seal operations on several Luna County roadways. Drivers may encounter flagging personnel, pilot vehicles and temporary stops from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
