COLUMBUS, N.M. – Residents of Luna County will have an opportunity to get an up-close look at some of New Mexico\u2019s fascinating birds of prey during a special program at Pancho Villa State Park in Columbus.<\/p>\n

The Raptors of New Mexico Foundation will present a Live Birds of Prey Presentation on Saturday, October 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Pancho Villa State Park.<\/p>\n

Laura McCann with the Raptors of New Mexico Foundation will lead the presentation, giving those attending an opportunity to learn more about raptors and the important role these birds play in New Mexico\u2019s environment.<\/p>\n

Raptors are birds of prey and include species such as hawks, eagles, falcons and owls. Their keen eyesight, powerful talons and other specialized characteristics allow them to hunt and make them an important part of the natural ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The program will provide an educational opportunity for children and adults to learn more about these birds, their habitats and the characteristics that make raptors some of the Southwest\u2019s most impressive wildlife.<\/p>\n

The event is sponsored by the Friends of Pancho Villa State Park and El Coraz\u00f3n de Columbus.<\/p>\n

The Live Birds of Prey Presentation is also listed on the official New Mexico State Parks events calendar.<\/p>\n

Pancho Villa State Park, located in Columbus, preserves an important part of the history of the border region while also providing recreational and educational programs for residents and visitors.<\/p>\n

The Raptors of New Mexico Foundation Live Birds of Prey Presentation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 24, at Pancho Villa State Park in Columbus.<\/p>\n
