DEMING – The New Mexico State Police announced they will conduct sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and registration, insurance, and driver\u2019s license checkpoints in Luna County and all New Mexico counties statewide throughout March 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials say the coordinated effort is designed to reduce impaired driving-related crashes and fatalities through heightened enforcement and public awareness. By publicizing the checkpoints in advance, the department hopes to encourage motorists to make safe, responsible decisions before getting behind the wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
State Police emphasize that impaired driving \u2014 whether involving alcohol or drugs \u2014 remains a serious public safety concern across New Mexico. Through continued media outreach and intensive advertising, the agency aims to shift public attitudes and reinforce the message that driving under the influence is preventable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities say hundreds of lives could be saved each year if drivers choose not to drive while impaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
