DEMING – The Luna County Board of County Commissioners will meet Thursday, April 9, at the Luna County Courthouse to address a range of county business matters, including financial reports, infrastructure projects, community proclamations, and employee recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, commissioners will recognize Steven Maynes of Starmax<\/strong> for five years of dedicated service<\/strong> to Luna County. The recognition is part of the board\u2019s ongoing effort to honor employees who contribute to county operations and public service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n County leaders are also scheduled to review and consider acceptance of the county\u2019s Fiscal Year 2025 audit, along with budget increases and transfers listed on the consent agenda. In addition, a public hearing will be held regarding a proposed amendment to the Special County Hospital Gross Receipts Tax ordinance, allowing commissioners to consider potential adjustments to funding mechanisms that support hospital-related services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Presentations during the meeting will include a review of the 2026 Legislative Session by Representative Jenifer Jones and a quarterly restrictive housing report from the Luna County Detention Center. Several proclamations are also planned to recognize Emergency Medical Services Week and Firefighter\u2019s Day, National Correctional Officers and Employees Appreciation Week, Law Enforcement Week 2026, and April as National County Government Month, along with community participation in the Local Great American Clean-Up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additional new business includes consideration of an amendment to a Local Government Road Fund project for Country Club Road Southeast and a recommendation to award a contract for dental services at the Luna County Detention Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prior to the regular meeting, commissioners will hold a public work session beginning at 1:30 p.m., offering residents an opportunity to provide comments on county-related matters. Officials encourage members of the public to sign in before speaking and to limit comments to approximately three minutes to ensure all voices have the opportunity to be heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The regular meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Luna County Courthouse.
