DEMING \u2013 The New Mexico Department of Transportation has begun chip seal operations on several roadways in the Deming area of Luna County, with crews working weekdays through the afternoon hours.<\/p>\n
Transportation officials reported that fog sealing operations on NM 9 from Animas to the Do\u00f1a Ana\/Luna County line have been completed. The roadway is now scheduled for striping.<\/p>\n
As chip seal work continues, drivers can expect flagging personnel, pilot vehicles, and temporary stops in active work zones. Officials say brooming will take place during and after the sealing process, and loose gravel may remain on road surfaces for several days following treatment.<\/p>\n
Work is scheduled to occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists are also advised that center striping will be temporarily absent in work areas until projects are fully completed.<\/p>\n
Roadways scheduled for chip sealing, in order, include State Park 1007 at Pancho Villa State Park, various Interstate 10 frontage roads in the Gage area, NM 418 from milepost 0 to 14.1 along the Old Lordsburg Highway, NM 377 from milepost 0 to 1.8 in the Pecan Park area, and additional Interstate 10 frontage roads in the Akela area.<\/p>\n
