Ismael Zapata Sr., 55, a lifelong resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Mimbres Valley Medical Center.

Ismael was born on November 10, 1970 to Manuel Zapata Tarin and Isabel Foster.

He is survived by one son, Ismael Zapata Jr.; four brothers, Reynaldo, Jose Inez, Francisco and Alvaro Zapata; seven sisters, Martha Lidia Zapata, Maria P. Duran, Concepcion, Dolores, Margarita, Isabel and Rosa Zapata; and five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents and two brother, Ramiro and Manuel Zapata.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 5-6pm with the holy rosary beginning at 6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will then take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 9:30am with Pastor George Gillespie officiating at Terrazas Funeral Chapel. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Ismael Zapata Jr., Alvaro Zapata, Armando Zapata, Francisco Zapata, Alvarito Zapata and Alberto Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernesto Duran, Emiliano Zapata, Abraham Zapata, Fernando Rodriguez and Favian Rodriguez.
