DEMING – Luna County residents who are not registered to vote still have time to make their voices heard in New Mexico’s Nov. 3 general election.
The deadline to register online, by mail or through the standard voter-registration process is Tuesday, Oct. 6 — 28 days before Election Day. Eligible voters with a current or expired New Mexico driver’s license or state identification card may register online through the New Mexico Secretary of State’s voter-registration portal.
Residents may also register using a paper application through the Luna County Clerk’s Office or other authorized registration locations. First-time voters who register by mail may need to provide identification showing their name and current address.
New Mexico also offers same-day voter registration during early voting at the county clerk’s office and certain early-voting locations, as well as at Election Day voting locations. Voters using same-day registration should bring acceptable identification and proof of residency.
Early voting for the general election begins Oct. 6 at county clerk offices. Expanded early voting locations open Oct. 17. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Voters can check or update their registration, find voting locations, view sample ballots and request a mailed ballot through NMVote.org. The Luna County Clerk’s Office is at 700 S. Silver Ave. in Deming and can be reached at 575-546-0494.
New Mexico residents may register as soon as they become state residents. A person who will be 18 by the general election may preregister now.
