COLUMBUS – Village officials say they will increase enforcement of local regulations involving dogs running at large.
The Village of Columbus says it continues to receive complaints and respond to problems involving loose dogs throughout the community.
Officials are asking dog owners to make sure their animals are properly licensed, contained and kept under control. Owners who allow dogs to run loose may be cited and fined under village regulations.
Village administrators noted that roaming dogs can create safety concerns for neighbors, pedestrians, children, other pets and motorists.
Officials said the goal is not simply to issue citations, but to bring residents into compliance and help make Columbus safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
