DEMING – The Deming City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at City Hall, 1275 E. Pine St.
The council agenda includes a proposed temporary moratorium involving the sale, assignment, transfer or other permanent disposition of city-owned water rights.
Councilors are also scheduled to consider authorizing city staff to negotiate lease terms with American Magnesium for later City Council review. Other items include a proposed City of Deming organizational chart, adoption of a city code of ethics for the governing body and staff, and approval of opioid awareness and education through Desert Oasis.
A public hearing is scheduled on an application involving the transfer of ownership and location of a liquor license for Plaza de Florida, LTD, doing business as Peppers Supermarket.
The council is also expected to consider the acceptance of state road funds administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation and a funding application to the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission.
The meeting will include a proclamation recognizing September as Attendance Awareness Month and a recognition of Thomas Caballero.
Following open session, the council is expected to enter closed session to discuss limited personnel matters involving the assistant manager’s contract.
