SILVER CITY – Western New Mexico University has begun its Fall 2026 semester, welcoming new and returning students to its Silver City campus with a week of student activities, resources and campus traditions.
Welcome Week included classroom-navigation assistance, financial-aid and registration support, trivia, games, Wing Wednesday and Llama Day. The events were organized by WNMU Student Life to help students connect with campus resources and one another as classes begin.
Saturday’s Welcome Back Bash will close out the week with a live performance by Nosotros, the Albuquerque and Santa Fe-based ensemble known for blending Latin rhythms with rock, salsa, jazz and cumbia. Las Cruces native DJ FlipZ will also perform.
It is the first academic year for WNMU President Jose E. Coll, who participated in move-in activities and met with students and their families throughout the week, according to the university.
