DEMING – Deming Police are asking residents and travelers throughout southwest New Mexico to be on the lookout for a 67-year-old man who has been reported missing and may have traveled into Grant County for a camping trip.
The Deming Police Department issued a Missing Person Alert Friday for Roberto Barreda, 67, who was last known to be in the Deming area. Police said Barreda may have intended to travel to the Lake Roberts or Gila Cliff Dwellings areas in Grant County to camp, but investigators do not know whether he ever arrived at either location.
Barreda is believed to be driving a gray Toyota with Texas license plate BKM5937. Police said he has not been in contact with friends or family, and his current whereabouts are unknown. Barreda has been entered as a missing person in the National Crime Information Center.
The Deming Police Department is asking anyone who has seen Barreda, his vehicle, or who has information concerning his whereabouts to immediately contact Central Dispatch by calling 911. If Barreda is located, police are asking residents to call 911 and provide his location and any available information to responding law enforcement officers.
Police are also encouraging the public to share the missing person information, particularly with anyone traveling, camping or recreating in the Lake Roberts and Gila Cliff Dwellings areas.
