DEMING – The Great American Duck Race Committee is inviting the community to help shape next year’s celebration by submitting creative theme ideas for the 2027 Great American Duck Race.
Residents have an opportunity to put their creativity to work and potentially win $100 if their proposed theme is selected for the annual Deming event.
According to the committee, the only guideline is that submissions should be creative and versatile enough to be incorporated throughout the weekend’s activities, including the Duck Royalty Pageant and the Tournament of Ducks Parade.
The selected theme will help establish the identity of the 2027 celebration and serve as inspiration for the event’s promotional materials and activities.
The deadline to submit theme suggestions is 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
To enter, participants should visit DemingDuckRace.com, select the article titled “Great American Duck Race Committee Seeks 2027 Theme Ideas,” and complete the online submission form provided in the announcement.
The form requires participants to provide their name, email address, telephone number and proposed theme. An additional section allows participants to explain their theme idea in greater detail, although that portion is optional.
Participants must submit the completed form before the 5 p.m. deadline.
The person submitting the winning theme will receive a $100 prize. The committee says the winner will be notified after a corresponding event logo has been prepared for the official announcement.
The Great American Duck Race has a long history of creative artwork associated with its annual celebrations. The event’s first logos were created by local artist William “Bill” McKinley, whose artwork helped establish the visual identity of this popular Deming tradition.
Community members can submit their ideas directly through the official Great American Duck Race website at DemingDuckRace.com.
