Luna County Commission Sets Budget Work Session and Regular Meeting

DEMING – The Luna County Board of County Commissioners will hold a budget work session Tuesday, May 19, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Luna County Courthouse.

The work session will focus on discussion of the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 preliminary budget. The item is listed for discussion only.

Commissioners are also scheduled to meet Thursday, May 21, for a public input work session beginning at 1:30 p.m., followed by the regular commission meeting at 2 p.m. at the Luna County Courthouse.

The May 21 regular meeting agenda includes minutes, special service awards, presentations, the consent agenda, elected officials’ reports, a public hearing, new business items, the indigent claims report, the county manager’s report, and an executive session.

Among the items listed on the regular meeting agenda are the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 preliminary budget, a public hearing for Little Toad Creek LLC doing business as Little Toad Creek Distillery for issuance of a winegrower liquor license, and a call to adopt an ordinance for a Local Economic Development Act project for Wesley Brother Desert Studios.

The consent agenda includes accounts payable totaling $2,377,799.39 and payroll totaling $1,546,925.17, along with budget increases, budget transfers, disposition of personal property, the oath of office for Sheriff Deputy Marcus Sanchez, and a proclamation recognizing the opening of the La Casa, Inc. Safe Exchange and Supervised Visitation Center.
