Curtis Cooper, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 24, 1948, in Ravenna, Ohio, to the late Curtis Cooper Sr. and Mabel Wilmot Cooper.
Curtis later made his home in Deming, where he built a life centered around hard work, family, and friendship. As a commercial truck driver, he dedicated many years to his profession, earning the respect of those who knew him through his strong work ethic and dependable nature.
Curtis was a lifelong lover of old country music, and you could often find him with a warm cup of coffee in hand throughout the day, enjoying good conversation and sharing stories. He cherished spending weekends with his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Known for his wisdom, sense of humor, and unforgettable jokes, Curtis had a way of making people feel welcomed and loved. He was also famous among family and friends for his legendary green chile chicken enchiladas, a meal that brought everyone together around the table.
Curtis took pride in his appearance and was often complimented on his signature wavy hair, which became one of the many memorable traits people lovingly associated with him. His family will forever remember his early 4:00 AM phone calls to start the day — waking everyone up simply because he was already awake and ready to talk, a memory that will now be deeply cherished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Cooper Sr. and Mabel Wilmot Cooper; his beloved daughter, Autumn; and his siblings, Della, Norma, and Clyde.
Curtis leaves behind his devoted wife of 39 years, Delia Cooper; his loving daughters, April Wilson (Doug) of Abilene, Crystal Taylor (Richard) of Deming, and Tasha Munoz (Randy) of Deming. He also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren who will forever carry his love, lessons, and laughter in their hearts.
He is also survived by his siblings Joanne, Nelson, Loretta, Cliff, Roy, Rita, and Diane, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Terrazas Funeral Home. Following the viewing, the family invites everyone to gather together at Si Señor Restaurant at 1:30 PM to continue celebrating Curtis’s life and share memories with family and friends.
