DEMING – Deming Public Schools has opened its School Choice application window for the 2026-2027 school year, giving families an opportunity to request attendance at schools outside their assigned attendance boundaries or apply for Virtual School enrollment.
The application period opened May 27 and will remain available through June 30. Parents and guardians can access the application online through the Deming Public Schools website at Deming Public Schools School Choice Application.
According to district officials, students in kindergarten through fifth grade who wish to attend a school outside their assigned boundary school, return to their boundary school, or remain enrolled at a school after moving outside that school’s attendance area must submit a School Choice application. Students in grades 6 through 12 may also use the application to request enrollment in the district’s Virtual School program.
District officials emphasize that families must first complete an Existing Student Online Registration (OLR) application before submitting a School Choice request. Any School Choice application submitted without an approved OLR application on file will be denied. Parents whose families have moved into a different attendance area or who wish to return a student to their assigned boundary school should select the “School Boundary” option when completing the application.
Students who previously received School Choice approval generally do not need to reapply unless they are returning to their boundary school or requesting transfer to a different non-boundary school. However, under current board policy, students approved for School Choice beginning with the 2026-2027 school year will be returned to their assigned boundary school at the end of each school year and must submit a new application annually to continue attending a non-boundary school.
Deming Public Schools encourages families to review all requirements and deadlines before submitting applications. Additional information and application details are available through the district website.
