DEMING — Deming High School’s ESS (Exceptional Student Services) Department will host the 2026 Special Olympics on Friday, April 24, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Deming High School Memorial Stadium and the main gym.
The day will begin with an assembly at 8:30 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 9 a.m., including the athlete’s oath and welcome remarks. Morning events will start at 9:30 a.m. and include lap runs, walks, softball throws, frisbee tosses, and a variety of races designed to highlight the athletes’ abilities and teamwork.
Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. at the Hofacket patio. Afternoon activities will resume at noon in the main gym, featuring basketball shoot competitions and other games, before the awards ceremony wraps up the event at 2 p.m.
The community is invited to attend and show support for local athletes as they compete, celebrate their achievements, and demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship that defines the Special Olympics.
