Deming Police Plan Memorial Day Weekend DWI Saturation Patrols

DEMING – The Deming Police Department will conduct saturation patrols throughout the city over Memorial Day weekend in an effort to deter impaired driving and prevent traffic crashes.

According to a release from the Office of Chief of Police Sergio Lara, the patrols are being conducted in coordination with the Luna County DWI Program as part of an ongoing effort to reduce DWI offenses and keep local roadways safe.

The saturation patrols will be active throughout the holiday weekend. Officers will be looking for traffic violations, signs of intoxication and other unsafe driving behaviors that may indicate an impaired driver.

The department is encouraging residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly. Anyone who plans to drink is urged to arrange for a sober driver and not get behind the wheel while impaired.

“The goal of these enforcement efforts is prevention. By increasing patrol visibility during one of the year’s busiest travel weekends, we hope to deter dangerous driving behaviors and protect the community,” Deming Police Chief Sergio Lara said.
