Friday Night’s Desert Oasis Fundraiser Supports Reentry And Recovery Services

DEMING – Desert Oasis Reentry and Wraparound Program is preparing to host a special community fundraiser Friday night in Deming focused on supporting rehabilitation, recovery, and reentry services for formerly incarcerated individuals and adults rebuilding their lives after addiction and homelessness.

The nonprofit organization will host its “Night of Remembrance and Renewal” fundraiser Friday, May 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Rio Mimbres Country Club, located at 2500 East Pine Street in Deming. Event organizers say the evening will include dinner, guest speakers, silent auctions, and community fellowship centered around healing and second chances.

According to information published online, Desert Oasis Reentry and Wraparound Program provides transitional housing, recovery assistance, peer support, and case management services for justice-involved individuals and others facing major life transitions. The organization focuses on helping clients stabilize their lives, reconnect with the community, and reduce the likelihood of returning to incarceration or substance abuse.

The organization says its services are designed to address the broader challenges people often face after release from jail, prison, or treatment programs, including housing instability, unemployment, transportation barriers, mental health concerns, and long-term recovery support. Wraparound-style programs attempt to coordinate multiple services together rather than addressing only one issue at a time.

Desert Oasis was founded by licensed social worker and addiction counselor Lidia V. Chavira, according to the nonprofit’s website. The organization describes its approach as trauma-informed and community-based, emphasizing dignity, accountability, and rebuilding support systems for participants.

Organizers say Friday night’s fundraiser is intended both to raise money for ongoing programs and to increase public awareness about the challenges many formerly incarcerated individuals face when attempting to reintegrate into everyday life.

Tickets and additional information about the fundraiser are available through the organization’s online event pages and social media postings.
