Homeless Man Arrested After Alleged Home Invasion and Assault in Deming

DEMING – A 37-year-old homeless man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly breaking into a homeowner’s residence, assaulting two people with a frying pan, and later resisting arrest while kicking a Deming police officer.

According to the Deming Police Department’s media report, Omar Carrillo-Hernandez, 37, was arrested Tuesday on charges of Aggravated Burglary, Battery Upon a Peace Officer, Resisting, Evading or Obstructing an Officer, and two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Police said the incident occurred at a residence in the 1200 block of South Gold Street.

In an email to Bravo Mic Communications, Captain Jose David Montoya said it appears Carrillo-Hernandez allegedly broke into the homeowner’s home.

“He assaulted the homeowner and a friend of the homeowner with a frying pan after he was asked to leave,” Captain Montoya said. “He refused to leave, law enforcement was called.”

Captain Montoya said Carrillo-Hernandez allegedly resisted law enforcement and kicked an officer as he was being taken into custody. He added that the officer did not suffer any serious injuries.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
