DEMING – The Deming City Council will meet Tuesday evening with a full agenda that includes consideration of the city’s preliminary Fiscal Year 2027 budget, appointments to city boards, public hearings, and several infrastructure and administrative items.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Deming City Hall, 1275 E. Pine Street. Public comment sign-up will take place from 4:30 to 5 p.m., followed by the public comment period from 5 to 5:30 p.m. before the regular meeting begins.
Council members are expected to consider approval of the preliminary Fiscal Year 2027 budget, acceptance of Local Government Road Fund (LGRF) and Municipal Arterial Program (MAP) awards, appointment of authorized financial signers and a records custodian, approval of a Southwest New Mexico Council of Governments agreement, and appointments to the Airport Commission and the New Mexico Municipal League District 7 voting delegate position.
Additional agenda items include a resolution to condemn a property located at 912 South Sunset, awarding a construction contract for improvements to Runway 8-26 and Taxiway A at the Deming Municipal Airport, approval of a pay range change for the Battalion Chief position, and adoption of the city’s Fiscal Year 2027 Comprehensive Plan.
The council will also conduct public hearings on a proposed bond ordinance authorizing general obligation bonds and an amendment to the city’s municipal code governing city officers and employees.
Later in the meeting, council members will receive community development, code enforcement, and city manager reports before discussing adoption of a city Code of Ethics. The agenda also includes a closed session to discuss pending litigation and matters involving the purchase, sale, or lease of real property, followed by an open session for any resulting action.
The meeting will also be available online through the City’s GoTo Meeting platform.
