DEMING — The City of Deming says the Sam Baca Aquatic Center is now open to the public following a year-long project to redesign, reconstruct and recertify the facility’s pump house and pool-support systems.
City officials said approval has been received from the New Mexico Environment Department to allow public swimming at the aquatic center, located at 815 W. Buckeye St.
However, the reopening does not include all areas of the facility. The Competition Pool remains unavailable as construction and renovations continue. The City also said it has not yet received certification to partially open the Exercise Pool or the Activity Pool with its slide and water features.
The recently redesigned pump house infrastructure is intended to improve the reliability and efficiency of the center’s water circulation and treatment systems while meeting current health and safety standards.
The City of Deming Aquatics Department is developing information on pricing, party-booking availability and swim times. A full pool schedule is expected to be announced on City of Deming social media pages and the city website in the coming days.
