DEMING – The Southwestern New Mexico State Fair is inviting students in first through 12th grade to take part in its Royalty Contest as the fair celebrates 80 years with an ’80s-style theme.
Contest winners will be crowned October 8 during the fair. The contest is open to young people interested in representing the fair as part of its 2026 celebration.
The first mandatory meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 24, at the Customs House, 304 S. Silver Ave. in Deming.
Royalty contest packets are available at Mimbres Valley Feeds, JR’s Western Wear, Circle S Western Emporium and Copper Kettle Coffee.
