DEMING – The aroma of fresh-roasted New Mexico chile will soon fill the air as Luna County 4-H kicks off pre-orders for its annual Chile Roast Fundraiser.
Residents are encouraged to place their orders now by calling the Luna County Extension Office at 575-546-8806. Organizers emphasize that all chile must be pre-ordered, as no walk-up sales will be available.
Order pickup is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Southwest New Mexico State Fairgrounds. All forms of payment will be accepted at the pickup location.
Fresh New Mexico chile will be available in both roasted and unroasted varieties. Roasted chile is priced at $30 per bag, while large bags of unroasted chile are available for $40. Both hot and mild chile will be offered.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Luna County 4-H youth programs, helping provide educational opportunities and leadership experiences for local 4-H members.
Organizers encourage residents to order early and support one of the community’s longtime traditions while enjoying fresh New Mexico chile.
