DEMING – DAGSHIP Rescue says it took in 12 dogs Thursday night after the animals were reportedly abandoned without food, water or anyone to care for them.
According to the rescue, 11 of the dogs are Chihuahuas and one is a Dachshund. One dog arrived suffering seizures believed to be connected to starvation, while the other animals were described as underweight.
The dogs range in age from about 1 to 8 years old and are said to be friendly. None had been vaccinated or spayed or neutered, and all had fleas, according to DAGSHIP.
The rescue said it was told the former owner had left the state, leaving the animals behind. Teresa Handal and Jeannette Chapman were credited with helping retrieve the dogs and transport them to DAGSHIP.
