DEMING – Several arrests and incidents were reported in recent days, including cases involving aggravated DWI, fleeing law enforcement, firearm possession, drug-related offenses and property crimes.
According to reports released by the Deming Police Department and the Luna County Detention Center, Jesus Chavez, 33, was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
Iribe Candelario, 27, was arrested on charges of aggravated second DWI, two counts of negligent use of a deadly weapon, driving while license suspended, racing on highways, failure to maintain a traffic lane, open container and unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon.
Jose Lujan, 32, faces several charges, including aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, battery upon a peace officer and aggravated DWI. He was also charged with driving while license suspended or revoked, no insurance, no registration, criminal damage to property, reckless driving and a headlamp-related motor vehicle violation.
Matthew Casillas, 24, was arrested on charges of reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, felony tampering with evidence and trespassing.
Juan Hernandez, 19, was arrested on a charge of battery upon a household member.
Police also reported that a 14-year-old boy was cited and released on allegations of battery upon a peace officer and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
Jesus Acosta, 67, was arrested on two counts of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer and a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
In separate property crime reports, a fountain valued at $300 was reported stolen from property in the 900 block of South Platinum Street. Police also reported that a national flag valued at $50 was stolen from a flagpole at the Deming Museum.
All persons mentioned are innocent until possibly found guilty by a court.
