Sandbags Available in Deming, Columbus and Luna County

DEMING – Sandbags are available today at locations in Deming and Columbus as local officials continue preparations for possible flooding.

The City of Deming is making sandbags available at Deming City Hall, located at 1275 East Pine Street, and at the Deming Fire Department, located at 800 South Gold Avenue. For additional information about the city’s distribution, call 575-546-8848.

Luna County residents may receive up to 10 filled sandbags per person at the Luna County Road Department, located at 2500 J Street in Deming. Empty sandbags are also available upon request.

The Road Department will be open today from 6:30 this morning until 5 this afternoon. For assistance outside regular hours, contact David Townsend at 575-544-7457.

In the Village of Columbus, sandbags are available at the Columbus Fire Department, located at 214 Broadway. For after-hours assistance in Columbus, call 575-531-2663.

Luna County is also asking residents to report locations affected by recent flooding through the county’s online reporting form. The information will help officials identify damaged areas, assess flood impacts and prioritize roadway repairs.

The reporting form is available through Luna County’s website and social media pages. Current road conditions are available at N-M-Roads-dot-com.
