Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County Raises $21,000, Exceeding September Fundraising Goal

DEMING – Cancer Support of Deming & Luna County, Inc. has announced that its September fundraising campaign exceeded expectations, raising $21,000 to help local cancer patients and their families.

The organization’s original fundraising goal was $20,000, but community contributions pushed the total $1,000 beyond that target.

The successful campaign will allow the nonprofit organization to reinstate its Patient Lodging Assistance Program, which provides reimbursement for cancer patients who must stay overnight while traveling for medical treatment.

Lodging Assistance Program to Return

According to the organization, the reinstated program will reimburse eligible patients up to $75 per night for lodging expenses associated with overnight stays during cancer treatment.

The assistance is intended to help reduce the financial burden on local patients who must travel outside the Deming and Luna County area to receive medical care.

In addition to restoring lodging assistance, Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County will continue providing transportation assistance to local cancer patients traveling for treatment.

Both programs are designed to help patients manage some of the expenses associated with receiving cancer care away from home.

Community Support Makes the Difference

The organization credited the generosity of local residents, businesses and supporters for helping the September campaign surpass its fundraising goal.

Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to the campaign and helped make the return of lodging assistance possible.

The organization emphasized that the fundraising success reflects the community’s continuing commitment to supporting local residents facing cancer diagnoses and treatment.
