Deming Police Identify Woman Killed in Weekend Hit-and-Run

DEMING – The Deming Police Department has released new information regarding a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian late Saturday night.

Police have identified the victim as Carmen Regalado.

Officers responded at approximately 11:50 p.m. Saturday, August 29, to Pear Street between Nickel Street and Lead Street, where they found Regalado unresponsive in the roadway with injuries.

Regalado was transported to the local hospital. According to the updated police release, she was being prepared for transport to another medical facility when she was pronounced dead.

The Office of Medical Investigators was called to investigate the cause of death.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Detective Gerardo Rico has been assigned as the lead investigator.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, traveled through the area at the time, or may have surveillance, doorbell-camera or dash-camera footage from Pear Street between Nickel and Lead streets between approximately 11:30 p.m. and midnight to contact Detective Rico at 575-546-3011.
