Deming Police homicide investigation — public asked for information

UPDATE: Deming Police Investigating Homicide; Public Asked for Information

DEMING – The Deming Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, in the 400 block of South Myrtle Street.

Deming Police Chief Sergio Lara confirmed that the homicide is separate from the hit-and-run incident also being investigated by the department.

Lara said the homicide case remains an open and active investigation, and the department is not releasing additional details at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the homicide to contact the Deming Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division or Central Dispatch at 575-546-0354.

Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from residents and property owners in the area who may have surveillance-camera footage from around the time of the homicide. Anyone willing to assist by providing footage may contact investigators directly or submit information through Luna County Crime Stoppers.

People who wish to remain anonymous may call Luna County Crime Stoppers at 575-546-7800. Information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.

Anonymous tips may also be submitted by texting 274637 (CRIMES) and entering LUNATIP followed by the message, using the free TIPSOFT mobile app or visiting the TIPSOFT website.

The Deming Police Department thanked the public for its cooperation as detectives continue the investigation.
