Great American Duck Race Duck Royalty Pageant kicks off 47th annual festival in Deming

Bravo Mic Communications to Sponsor Duck Royalty Pageant as Great American Duck Race Gets Underway

DEMING – The countdown is on for one of Deming’s most entertaining traditions as Bravo Mic Communications sponsors this year’s Duck Royalty Pageant, officially kicking off the 47th Annual Great American Duck Race on Thursday, August 20, at the Deming Public Schools Auditorium, 1100 South Nickel Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the pageant begins at 6:30 p.m.

The Duck Royalty Pageant is open to anyone who has ever had the desire to “waddle in public.” Contestants compete for the title of Duck King or Duck Queen, representing the Great American Duck Race throughout the weekend’s festivities. Unlike traditional pageants, the competition celebrates creativity, humor, talent, and community spirit.

Contestants will be judged on the originality of their costumes, their signature duck waddle, talent performance, and, for those competing for the title of Duck King or Duck Queen, an interview designed to showcase poise, personality, and knowledge of the Great American Duck Race. Judges may even toss in a few surprise “quack” questions. Winners and first runners-up will receive cash prizes.

Anyone wishing to compete must register online at demingduckrace.com. The deadline to enter is Tuesday, August 18, at 10 p.m. A mandatory contestant meeting will be held Wednesday, August 19, at 6 p.m. at the Deming Public Schools Auditorium.

Admission to the pageant is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and under, with tickets available at the door.

The Duck Royalty Pageant marks the official start of four days of family fun as the 47th Annual Great American Duck Race returns to Deming August 20 through 23. This year’s celebration will feature live duck races on wet and dry tracks, the Tournament of Ducks Parade, carnival rides, hot-air balloons, live entertainment, the Tortilla Toss, Outhouse Races, a car show, food and merchandise vendors, and dozens of activities for the entire family.

Bravo Mic Communications will also be providing live coverage and promotional support throughout the Duck Race weekend, continuing its commitment to community events and local entertainment.
