DEMING – Law enforcement activity was reported late this morning in a residential area of Deming as state authorities investigate an officer-involved shooting involving federal agents.
According to a statement released by the New Mexico State Police, officers responded to the 200 block of Cedar Street where there is currently an active police presence.
The incident involves the U.S. Marshals Service, and the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau has been called in to conduct the investigation.
Officials are asking the public to avoid the area until further notice while investigators work the scene and gather information. No additional details about injuries, suspects, or the circumstances leading up to the shooting were immediately released.
