DEMING – Police made four arrests and cited a juvenile during a busy reporting period that also included a felony shoplifting investigation and a fire at an abandoned structure.
Alfredo Chavez, 58, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Steven Bell, 45, was arrested on charges of battery upon a household member and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
Eloy Cruz, 29, was arrested on charges of drunkenness and concealing identity.
Veronica Pacheco Cano, 33, was arrested on charges of aggravated DWI, failure to maintain traffic lane and evidence of registration.
A 17-year-old female juvenile was cited for resisting, evading or obstructing an officer and minor allowing self to be served alcohol.
In other police activity, a male suspect driving a black Ram single-cab truck is accused of stealing more than $800 in merchandise from Tractor Supply. The felony shoplifting case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division.
The Deming Fire Department responded to an abandoned structure fire at 804 South Pearl Street. Officials reported no injuries and found no signs of arson.
All persons mentioned are innocent until possibly found guilty by a court.
