LUNA COUNTY — With monsoon weather bringing the potential for heavy rain and localized flooding, Luna County has prepared filled sandbags for residents who may need help protecting homes and property.
Residents may receive up to 10 filled sandbags per person. Empty sandbags are also available upon request.
Filled sandbags may be picked up at the Luna County Road Department, 2500 J Street, Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The location is closed Fridays and weekends. For after-hours assistance, contact David Townsend at 575-544-7457.
Sandbags are also available through the Columbus Fire Department at 214 Broadway in Columbus. For after-hours assistance in Columbus, call 575-531-2663.
