DEMING – Deming High School has released its updated student dress-code expectations for the 2026-2027 school year, emphasizing clothing that is comfortable, appropriate and allows students to focus on learning.
The school’s “Dress to Respect” guidance says students should wear clothing that fully covers undergarments and avoids exposed midriff or chest areas. Pajamas, slippers, blankets, face coverings except for religious or medical reasons, sagging pants and sunglasses inside the building are also listed as not allowed.
The updated rules also prohibit clothing displaying gang or hate-group messages, drugs, alcohol, weapons, violence, illegal activity, or vulgar, racist or hate-based language or images.
School officials say the goal is a safe, respectful environment where every student can learn. The graphic encourages students who are unsure about an outfit to ask a teacher, counselor or principal before coming to school.
The school also notes that teachers and staff will follow the dress-code expectations alongside students.
