Deming Man Held in Dona Ana County Detention Without Bond Following Federal Transfer

DEMING – A Deming man is being held without bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center following an arrest involving the U.S. Marshals Service.

According to an inmate booking report released by Doña Ana County, 29-year-old Govanni Chavez of Deming was booked into the detention center at 10:05 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10.

The booking report lists the arresting agency as DUSM, or the U.S. Marshals Service, and lists the arrest location as “FED TRANSFER.” The report indicates Chavez was arrested at 6 a.m. that day.

Chavez is being held on a felony classification listed in the county booking system as “All Other Offenses.” The case is identified as a federal matter, and the booking report lists Chavez as being held without bond.

As of Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, no additional information explaining the reason for Chavez’s arrest or identifying the specific federal charge against him had been publicly released or located.

No court date is listed in the Doña Ana County booking report.

The case remains a federal matter, and additional information will be reported as it becomes available.
