DEMING – Local law enforcement reports from the past week include arrests involving aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a felon accused of possessing a firearm, aggravated DWI allegations and an incident in which a vintage phone booth valued at $1,000 was reported stolen from a backyard.
The following information was provided by the Deming Police Department and the Luna County Detention Center through public records made available under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act. All persons mentioned are innocent until possibly found guilty by a court.
Juan Bermudez, 38, was arrested on a Municipal Court warrant. Javier Arroyo, 28, was arrested on a charge of interference with officers. Israel Rodriguez, 27, was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Jesus Chavez, 33, was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
Iribe Candelario, 27, was arrested on charges of aggravated second DWI, two counts of negligent use of a deadly weapon, driving while license is suspended, racing on highways, failure to maintain a traffic lane, open container and unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon.
Jose Lujan, 32, was arrested on charges of aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, battery upon a peace officer, aggravated DWI, headlamp violations, driving while license is suspended or revoked, no insurance, no registration, criminal damage to property and reckless driving.
In a separate incident, police reported a decorative vintage phone booth was stolen from a backyard in the 400 block of Yucca Street. The phone booth was valued at $1,000.
Stephanie Gilham, 40, was cited and released on a shoplifting charge following an incident at Walmart.
