DEMING – Arrests involving an aggravated DWI allegation, a Texas drug warrant, resisting an officer and shoplifting were among the incidents reported by local authorities from August 17 through August 19. Information for this report was provided by the Deming Police Department and the Luna County Detention Center.
Dominic Rey, 21, was arrested August 17 on charges of reckless driving, resisting or evading an officer by refusing to stop and aggravated DWI after allegedly refusing chemical testing.
Jasper Acosta, 37, of Las Cruces, was arrested August 17 on a fugitive complaint connected to a warrant issued by the 346th District Court in Texas. The original alleged offense involved possession of at least four grams but less than 200 grams of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $55,000 cash or surety.
Joaquin Alonso Widmar, 23, was arrested August 18 on charges of trespassing, resisting or evading an officer and shoplifting at Walgreens.
Jeremy Adam Ellis, 52, whose address was listed as unknown, was arrested August 18 on allegations of loitering near 504 E. Cedar St. and interfering with officers. Ellis also had a warrant for failure to appear with a $120 cash-only bond.
Several people were issued non-traffic citations during the reporting period.
David Grado, 46, and Kathy Chavez, 46, were cited August 17 for alleged loitering near 220 S. Gold Ave.
Carlos Yepez, 30, was cited August 18 for alleged loitering near 108 E. Pine St.
Jesus Esteban Garcia, 37, Eddie Mora, 57, and Ruben Mora, 56, were cited August 18 for alleged loitering near 205 E. Hemlock St.
Richard Adam Sylvester, 42, was cited August 18 for alleged loitering near Pine and Iron streets.
Ira Rhodes, 58, whose address was listed as unknown, was cited August 18 for alleged loitering near 504 E. Cedar St.
Steven Michael Almanza, 43, was cited August 18 for alleged trespassing near 504 E. Cedar St.
In a separate investigation, Deming police officers were dispatched to Hitchin Post RV at approximately 10:56 a.m. August 19 following a report of a stolen vehicle. Police described the vehicle as a white 2018 Ford Fusion valued at approximately $9,000.
Police reported there were no immediate suspects or investigative leads. A “Be on the Lookout” notice was issued for the vehicle, and the case was assigned to the department’s Detective Division.
