DEMING – An 18-year-old faces a second-degree felony kidnapping charge in the latest Deming Police Department activity report, leading a series of arrests and investigations that also included household battery, DUI, burglary and property damage. Police have released only limited information regarding the kidnapping charge, and Deming News is seeking additional details about the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Sophia Zuniga, 18, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, a second-degree felony. No additional information concerning the circumstances of the alleged offense was included in the media report provided to Deming News.
Sasha Hernandez, 29, was arrested and charged with battery against a household member. Serenity Segura, 21, was also arrested and charged with battery against a household member. Sergio Yepez, 21, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of liquor. Ricardo Lopez, 24, was arrested on charges of larceny, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police also investigated a burglary at a residence in the 300 block of Sandburg where approximately $3,000 worth of tools and household items were reported stolen.
At the Paloma Del Sol Apartments, 601 Santa Monica Street, a gray 2011 Chrysler 300 had its rear window shattered and taillights damaged. Police estimated the damage at $950.
Joaquin Widmar, 24, was cited and released for allegedly shoplifting alcohol from Walgreens.
In another incident, a 14-year-old boy was cited for disorderly conduct and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer before being released to his parents.
