LAS CRUCES — Doña Ana County Assistant Utilities Director Mireya Rascon has been recognized as a 2026 Distinguished Alumna by Doña Ana Community College during the college’s Alumni and Community Block Party held April 10 at the East Mesa Campus.
Rascon began her career through DACC’s Water Technology Program and has since built a distinguished career in public service. She currently plays a key role in supporting essential utilities and wastewater operations that serve residents throughout Doña Ana County.
County officials say her recognition highlights the importance of local education and workforce development programs in preparing students for high-demand careers that directly benefit the community.
Rascon also continues to support the next generation of workers entering the field. In January 2026, Doña Ana County partnered with Doña Ana Community College to launch a Water Technology Program internship that provides students with mentorship and hands-on experience in utilities and wastewater operations. Rascon oversees the program, helping guide students as they gain real-world experience and prepare for careers in the field.
Assistant County Manager Stephen Lopez praised Rascon’s dedication to public service and her role in strengthening the county’s infrastructure.
He says the honor reflects her strong commitment to the community and her ongoing work to promote safe and reliable water and wastewater services across Doña Ana County.
